Project Lombok 2011 – Day 6
AMI ke SIN
Last day of the holiday. Woke up at 9am and had our final breakfast in front of our room at The Puncak. We selected international breakfast this morning, which gives us the eggs and bread. Taking in the view of Senggigi Beach and Mount Agung in Bali for the last time as we had a very leisurely breakfast.
View from breakfast table at The Puncak
With great reluctance, we had our last shit and packed our bags and checked out of the hotel at about 12pm. The lugguages were deposited with the hotel while we took a cab to the Senggigi Art Market for Lunch. We decided on Coco Loco again and ordered red curry chicken and garlic prawns. The food was ok but we thought the standard has dropped since we were here 2 years ago.
After lunch, we took a stroll from Coco Loco to Senggigi Beach hotel. Took some pictures of the fishing boats and some backpackers relaxing on the beach. At the center, there is also a stall selling coconuts. This seems to the standard thirst quencher here.
Although this is a tourist area, there isn’t many touts around and they don’t pester you like in Bali or Krabi. Hopefully this stays as long as possible.
We could see The Puncak high up on the hills when we looked up from part of the beach next to Senggigi Beach hotel. There were also locals fishing and relaxing on this quieter part of the beach.
At about 2.45pm, we took a cab back to The Puncak to rest and relax while we waited for our driver Lee to come pick us up for the Airport at 4pm. While lazing around, we came up with the idea of going for the Kambing Sate again since it’s on the way to the Airport. I was hoping Lee would be here about 10mins earlier as per previous times but this time around, he did not make it till about 4.15pm due to a jam caused by a traffic accident along the way.
We loaded up everything into his car and bid farewell to the fantastic staff of The Puncak before setting of at 4.20pm. We decided to go for the Kambing Sate even though Lee was late. Lee really rushed us to the Kambing shop. We got there in about 30mins and had 2 servings of the sate and 1 serving of the curry. We enjoyed a quick last meal in Lombok and were on our way by 5.15pm.
The final stretch of the road to the Airport was fast as they have constructed a modern highway. By 5.40pm, we reached the Airport said goodbye to Lee who has been a great driver and guide for us in the 3 days we went out with him. We would definetly find him again in our next trip here!
Bandar Udara Internasional Lombok
With a heavy heart, we boarded the Airbus A319 of Silkair Flight MI127 back to Singapore. Thinking back, I don’t seem to miss anything in Singapore while I was in Lombok, except for my car! Will we come back again? Yes! Definetly! The Puncak is a great place to stay, although a little inconvenient. Once you have your transport sorted out, it’s a charm. The best thing, It does not allow children of less then 12 years old as guest! Cereal will like it. There are still so many places to check out and Gunung Rinjani to climb. We could easily spend a month here.
